Ukraine not to suspend Russian gas transit
MINSK, Aug 27 (PRIME) -- Ukraine will not stop Russian gas transit, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yury Prodan said.
“Never in its existence had Ukraine stopped Russian gas transit,” Prodan said, adding that “the transit depends on Gazprom.”
“European companies have contracts with Gazprom. European traders and energy companies have no contracts with the Ukrainian operator,” he said.
On August 14, the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, approved a law allowing the country to impose sanctions on Russia, including fully or partially curbing resource and transportation transit through Ukraine.
